katietales-deactivated20110812 asked: hey there,
sorry to bother you.. I came across your blog when doing some research into the nikkormat FT2! I got one for myself finally (it arrived today), but i'm having a few issues with it and i was wondering if you could help.
Basically I noticed that if I change the lens apature the opening doesn't change (it's at its most open, even when I change it down to f16 or similar.) I thought it was maybe a faulty lens, but when I took it off and twisted it off the camera it works just fine. I tried another lens on it, and it did the same thing - froze the lens apature at the largest opening (the ring still moves, but nothing happens)
if i don't tighten the lens on fully it works fine, it's as soon as I tighten it up til it clicks that the opening goes to its largest - its as if somethings forcing it open...
have you came across anything like this with your own nikkormat?
Thanks, and sorry for the random question! I have searched online but can't find anything!
sorry I just noticed your message! glad you figured it out though. the only thing I could think of was that you were not indexing the lens properly when mounting it- you have to set the aperture to 5.6, put the prong to the right, mount the lens then twist through the apertures from smallest to largest. double check on the body if the minimum aperture is correct- there will be a red mark indicating it whether its 1.4, 2.8 or whatever.
maybe it was a completely different problem, but i’ve never had that issue- the only confusing part for me was the lens indexing. what did it turn out to be?
